Czech Cubist Inspired

During his time in Graduate school a Rhode Island School of Design, Chris attended an exhibition on Czech Cubism at Cooper Hewitt in New York City.  With its roots in Prague, Czech Cubism was a little-known design movement in the early twentieth century.  A group of designers and intellectuals took the Cubist concepts conceived by Braque and Picasso and applied them to the built environment.  This included architecture, set design for the theater, and everything in between.  As it turns out, the brush with Czech Cubism left a deep impression on Chris’s work. An arts and humanities grant allowed Chris to travel to Prague to study the movement more closely. That inspiring trip resulted in these pieces.
